Customising Your QR Code Design
Learn how to style your QR code with custom colours, logos, patterns, and frames to match your brand.
Why QR Design Matters
A well-designed QR code increases scan rates. Branded QR codes with logos and colours that match your packaging or marketing materials look professional and build trust with your customers. Studies show branded QR codes are scanned up to 3x more often than plain black-and-white ones.
How to Access the Design Editor
Go to QR Codes
Click QR Codes in the sidebar.
Open a QR code
Click the QR code you want to edit, or click Create QR Code to design a new one.
Click the Design tab
Inside the QR editor, click the Design tab to open the design controls.
Pattern Styles
The pattern style controls the shape of the individual dots that make up the QR code:
All pattern styles scan equally well on modern smartphones. Choose based on aesthetics.
| Style Name | Appearance | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
Square | Classic sharp-edged squares | Corporate, formal brands |
Rounded | Squares with rounded corners | Modern, friendly brands |
Dots | Circular dots | Tech, creative brands |
Classy | Diamond-like pattern | Premium, luxury brands |
Extra Rounded | Fully rounded, pill-like shapes | Lifestyle, wellness brands |
Foreground and Background Colours
- Foreground colour — the colour of the QR dots and corner markers
- Background colour — the colour behind the QR pattern
You can enter any hex colour code (e.g. #00BFA5 for teal) or use the colour picker.
Always maintain a high contrast ratio between foreground and background. Light-on-light or dark-on-dark combinations cause scan failures. A minimum contrast ratio of 4:1 is recommended. White (#FFFFFF) or very light backgrounds with dark foregrounds are the safest combination.
Adding a Logo
Square or circular logo crops work best. If your logo is wide and horizontal, crop it to just the icon/symbol part rather than the full wordmark.
Click Upload Logo
Click the Upload Logo button in the design panel.
Select your image
Choose a PNG, JPG, or SVG file from your device. A transparent-background PNG works best so the logo blends with the QR background colour.
Adjust the size
Use the slider to adjust how much of the QR code the logo covers. Keep it below 30% of the total QR area for reliable scanning.
Adding a Frame
A frame adds a decorative border around the QR code and a short text label below or above it — e.g. 'Scan to Order', 'Scan Me', 'Get Menu', 'Pay via UPI'.
Select a frame style
Browse the available frame templates and click one to apply it.
Enter frame label text
Type your call-to-action text in the label field. Keep it short — under 20 characters is ideal.
Choose frame colour
Set the colour of the frame to match your brand.
Previewing and Testing
The design preview updates in real time as you make changes. Before downloading, always test your QR code:
1. Click Preview to see the final rendered QR code
2. Scan it with your phone camera or a QR scanner app
3. Confirm it redirects to the correct destination
