Pausing, Activating, and Deleting QR Codes
How to temporarily stop a QR code from working, reactivate it, or permanently delete it.
Pausing a QR Code
Pausing a QR code temporarily deactivates it. When someone scans a paused QR code, they see a page informing them the code is currently inactive. No scan is recorded.
Use pausing when:
- A product, offer, or event is temporarily unavailable
- You are in the process of updating the destination and want to prevent scans until ready
- You want to stop scans temporarily for seasonal codes
You can also pause a QR code from inside the QR detail/edit page using the status toggle at the top.
Go to QR Codes
Click QR Codes in the left sidebar.
Find the QR code
Locate the QR code you want to pause.
Toggle the status
Click the green Active status toggle next to the QR code name. It will switch to Paused (shown in amber/orange). The change takes effect immediately.
Reactivating a Paused QR Code
Find the paused QR code
In the QR Codes list, paused codes are shown with an amber status badge. You can filter the list by status to find them quickly.
Toggle the status
Click the Paused toggle to switch it back to Active. The QR code immediately resumes working.
Deleting a QR Code
Deleting a QR code is permanent and cannot be undone. Once deleted:
- The QR code pattern no longer redirects anywhere (scans show an error)
- All analytics data for the QR code is deleted
- The code is removed from any campaigns it belonged to
Deleting a QR code that is printed on physical materials (menus, packaging, signage) means those QR codes will stop working permanently. Consider pausing the code instead if you may want to reuse it later.
Open the QR code
Click the QR code to open its detail page.
Click Delete
Click the Delete button (usually in the top-right or a menu). A confirmation dialog will appear.
Confirm deletion
Type the confirmation text and click Delete Permanently.
Bulk Pause, Activate, or Delete
To manage multiple QR codes at once:
1. In the QR Codes list, tick the checkbox beside each QR code you want to manage
2. A bulk action toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen
3. Choose Pause, Activate, or Delete to apply the action to all selected codes
