Scan-Limit Redirect
Automatically redirect scans to a different URL after your QR code reaches a specified number of total scans.
What is Scan-Limit Redirect?
The Scan-Limit Redirect rule lets you specify a maximum number of scans. Once that limit is exceeded, all subsequent scans are redirected to an alternative URL instead of the default destination.
Unlike QR expiry (which shows an expired page), Scan-Limit Redirect sends visitors to a URL you choose — such as a 'sold out' page, a waitlist form, or a 'coming soon' announcement.
Available on the Basic plan and above.
When to Use It
Limited-edition product launches — 'First 200 customers get 30% off'. After 200 scans, redirect to a 'This offer has ended' page
Event seat limits — 'Only 50 spots available'. After 50 registrations, redirect to a waitlist form
Controlled sample distribution — redirect to 'Sample request closed' after your allotment is used up
Flash sales — automatically end a flash sale by redirecting to the standard price page after the promotional cap is hit
How to Set It Up
The scan count used here is the total scan count, including repeat scans from the same device. Each time the QR code is physically scanned, it counts as one.
Open your QR code and go to Edit → Settings
Navigate to the QR code and open the Settings tab.
Add a Redirect Rule
Click + Add Rule in the Redirect Rules section.
Select 'Scan-Limit Redirect'
Choose Scan-Limit Redirect from the rule type dropdown.
Set the scan limit
Enter the number of scans after which the redirect kicks in (e.g. 100).
Enter the alternative URL
Paste the URL that scans above the limit should go to (e.g. your waitlist page, a sold-out notice, etc.).
Save
Click Save Changes. The rule is active immediately.
