Lead Consent, Privacy, and Erasure
How SMLLR tracks per-purpose consent for every lead, and how to request permanent erasure of a lead's data.
Consent Is Tracked Per Purpose
Being captured into Lead Hub does not automatically make a lead reachable on any channel. SMLLR tracks consent separately per purpose — currently email marketing and ad targeting — as its own record: the exact wording shown at the moment someone opted in, a timestamp, and the IP address it was granted from. These records are append-only and never edited after the fact, which is what makes them usable as demonstrable proof of consent if it's ever questioned.
Viewing a Lead's Consent History
Click any lead in the Lead Hub table to open its detail view. The Marketing consent section shows every purpose, whether it's currently granted, and (if granted) the exact timestamp and IP address of the grant. A lead with no purposes granted can still be viewed for attribution, but cannot be messaged on any channel.
Requesting Permanent Erasure
Retention is indefinite by default while your account is active — there's no automatic expiry on a lead. If you need a specific lead's data permanently erased (for a data-subject deletion request), contact SMLLR support with the lead's details. Erasure is a deliberate, admin-triggered action that removes the lead record along with its touchpoints and consent history — it does not happen automatically and cannot currently be self-served from the dashboard.
Erasure is irreversible. Once a lead's record is hard-deleted, its attribution and consent history cannot be recovered.
