Connecting Your Meta Ad Account

Step-by-step: add SMLLR as a partner in Meta Business Settings, paste your Ad Account ID, and verify.

No Meta Login Required

Connecting doesn't involve logging into Meta from SMLLR or sharing a password. Instead, you grant access the same way you'd add any outside partner to your Meta Business Manager — a one-time setup step in Meta's own Business Settings.

Step 1 — Add SMLLR as a Partner

1

Open Setup

Go to Marketing → Meta Sync → Setup tab. Your SMLLR Business ID is shown there with a copy button.

2

Go to Meta Business Settings

In your own Meta Business Manager, go to Business Settings → Partners → Add.

3

Paste the Business ID

Paste the Business ID you copied from SMLLR's Setup tab.

4

Grant ad account access

Assign the partner access to the specific ad account you want to connect, with permission to manage campaigns.

Step 2 — Connect in SMLLR

If verification fails immediately after adding the partner, double-check the Business ID was pasted correctly and that the ad account access was actually granted (not just the partner added) — these are two separate steps in Meta's Business Settings.

1

Find your Ad Account ID

This is the numeric ID for your ad account in Meta Ads Manager (no "act_" prefix needed).

2

Paste it into Setup

Back in SMLLR's Meta Sync → Setup tab, paste your Ad Account ID.

3

Click Verify Connection

SMLLR checks access to the ad account and, on first connect, creates a dedicated Custom Audience for your account inside it.

"Custom Audience Terms Not Accepted" Error

This is a one-time requirement from Meta, not a SMLLR error — every ad account's admin must accept Meta's Custom Audience Terms of Service before any app (SMLLR included) can create a Custom Audience for it. If you see this message, the error includes a direct link to accept the terms in Meta Ads Manager; once accepted, click Verify Connection again.

Revoking Access Later

To disconnect SMLLR at any time, go to your Meta Business Settings → Partners, find SMLLR's Business ID, and remove it. This immediately stops SMLLR from being able to sync your audience — no action needed on SMLLR's side.
