Running a Sync
How the Audience tab shows who's pending, what a sync actually uploads, and how removals work.
What the Audience Tab Shows
The Audience tab shows your total eligible lead count, how many are pending to add (newly consented since your last sync), how many are pending to remove (opted out or suppressed since your last sync), and the exact credit cost of running a sync right now.
What Happens When You Click Sync Now
A sync where nothing changed since last time reports "Nothing to sync" and costs 0 credits — you don't need to worry about running it too often.
SMLLR computes the difference
Only what changed since your last sync is touched — not your whole audience every time.
Contacts are hashed
Phone numbers and emails are converted to SHA-256 hashes on SMLLR's servers before anything is sent to Meta.
Hashes are uploaded
Newly eligible contacts are added to your Custom Audience; no-longer-eligible contacts are removed from it.
Your credit wallet is charged
1 credit per 20 contacts touched, only after the sync succeeds.
Already-Synced Contacts Aren't Re-Charged
A lead who's still eligible from a previous sync is never re-uploaded or re-charged on a later sync — only the first sync that includes them costs a credit for that contact. You're only ever billed for actual changes.
What Happens When Someone Opts Out
If a previously-synced lead opts out, gets suppressed, or has their ad-targeting consent revoked, the next sync detects this and actively removes them from your Meta Custom Audience — not just stops adding them going forward.
