Cooldowns, Claiming, and Common Questions

How replay abuse is prevented, how the claim screen works, and answers to common Play & Win questions.

The Replay Cooldown

To stop the same device from replaying repeatedly, SMLLR blocks a device from starting a new Play & Win session at your business for a configurable cooldown window (default 6 hours) after it last played — across any of your Play & Win QR codes, not just the one it played. This uses the same pseudonymous device cookie SMLLR already sets on every scan for unique-visitor counting; no extra tracking, fingerprinting, or OTP step is added.

The "Claim Now" Option

Every session ends automatically after 5 minutes regardless of what's happening in the game, and a customer can tap "Claim now" at any point once a short minimum play time has passed, ending their session early and locking in whatever reward the system computes at that moment. This is meant for a real-world wait that ends sooner than expected — the customer doesn't have to abandon the game to avoid missing their order or turn.

The Claim Screen and Its Validity Window

Once a reward is revealed, the claim screen stays valid for a limited window (roughly 10-15 minutes) with a visible countdown — enough time to walk to the counter, but not indefinitely reusable later. Your staff verify the reward directly off the customer's screen and apply it in your own point-of-sale or handover process; SMLLR does not integrate with or record the actual redemption.

Common Questions

  • Can a customer play again immediately after claiming? No — the same device is subject to the cooldown window regardless of whether it claimed a reward or not.

  • What happens if the customer closes the tab before claiming? Scanning the same QR again while a reward is still inside its claim window re-shows that same reward rather than starting a new play, so nothing is lost by accidentally closing the tab.

  • Does turning off contact capture lose the lead? No leads are ever created for that play — with contact capture off, the QR is pure engagement, and nothing is written to your Leads Hub at all for that session.

  • Can I see which QR codes are performing best? Yes — the Play & Win list page shows performance stats (plays, completion rate, leads captured, and rewards given) collectively and per QR code.

  • Is the game fair / rigged toward the business? The reward math follows exactly the range and weight you configure — there is no hidden business-side thumb on the scale beyond those settings.
